Habitat ReStore Manager
Status: Non Exempt
Reports to: Executive Director
Supervises: ReStore staff, volunteers, and other employees who may be temporarily assigned
Hours: Tuesday – Saturday, 8:15 – 5:15
MISSION: Generate revenue, meet budgets, and maximize profitability objectives in support of Habitat for Humanity of Greater Bangor’s mission through the acquisition, management, merchandising, and sales of ReStore inventory.
POSITION SUMMARY: Implements and drives programs for donation acquisition. Assists in network development to expand the scope of Habitat ReStore activities and develop long-term, collaborative relationships with community based Trade/Business Groups, churches, donors and others to secure donations and raise awareness of Habitat for Humanity of Greater Bangor’s mission in the community. The ReStore Manager will be responsible for managing the ReStore in a safe and professional manner in order to provide a high quality donor-to-customer experience.
Provide outstanding service to customers, donors, potential donors, Habitat program applicants, partner families, andvolunteers.
Drive donations and sales to further the affiliate mission and meet budgeted financial goals.
Implement and monitor systems for daily cash transactions.
Supervise and assist with product movement within the store to ensure effective merchandise management. Maintain appropriate stock rotation and mark downs.
Protect employees and customers by providing a safe and clean store environment, meeting the minimum requirements in Habitat for Humanity, International’s Operations Manual.
Maintain the sustainability and reputation of the affiliate by complying with State of Maine labor law requirements.
Assist management and Board in planning of budgets and capital expenditures.
Develop/maintain relationships with potential and existing donors.
Assist management and Board in developing and implementing plans for public relations, marketing, and advertising.
Review store policies and procedures and make recommendations to improve them.
Manage the donation pick-up and delivery schedule; determine guidelines for donation acceptance.
Maintain active presence on Facebook page.
Plan, organize, and maintain store layout.
Open/close store and operate cash register.
Staff & Volunteer Management
Schedule and manage staff and volunteers; follow up on work results.
Advertise to fill staff and volunteer vacancies, participate in interviews with management.
Train staff and volunteers in accordance with relevant personnel and safety policies.
Coach and counsel staff and volunteers to improve performance; recognize and reward results.
Address violations of policy, poor job performance, or misconduct by volunteers or staff in a timely and appropriate manner. Properly document incidents and develop corrective actions. Resolve situations in consultation with management, or advise management when resolution is not possible or not in the ReStore's best interest.
Ensure all staff and volunteers understand and can effectively communicate the mission of the ReStore, local affiliate andHFH International to members of the public.
Oversee employee and volunteer timesheets, consider time-off requests, ensure appropriate staffing levels.
Reporting and Communications
Provide reports of designated activities including but not limited to: sales, expenses, outreach activities and other areas ofinterest to senior management or Board.
Keep management informed in an appropriate and timely manner of operational and financial matters.
Respond to requests regarding Habitat affiliate programs and connect applicants with resources.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of retail store operations, including excellent customer service, cash controls, performance management, merchandising, store safety, and inventory management.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Comfort with social media.
Ability to follow instructions, meet deadlines, and carry out assigned projects.
Ability to work under stress and handle stressful situations.
Must be willing and able to lift up to 50lbs. and handle the physical demands inherent in moving store inventory.
Valid Maine driver’s license and ability to safely operate affiliate delivery vehicle if necessary.

A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a retail or office environment.
Experience in one or more of the following retail environments: furniture, hardware, building supplies, appliances,bathroom/kitchen, or trades (electrical, plumbing, drywall).
High School diploma or equivalent.
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. Bulk of time will be spent standing, walking and otherwise assisting customers. Job entails frequent bending, kneeling and reaching, often in awkward or tiring positions. Ability to frequently lift and position up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and position up to 75 pounds with assistance.
Ability to create attractive merchandise displays.
Ability to move hands and fingers quickly to count money/change and operate cash register.
